Based on the out-migration of poverty, higher housing prices in the city and folks moving to places like Penn Hills where social service infrastructure is not there specifically for the children, having this out-of-school-time program in the entire building is so important to me.

We wanted to highlight what the school district is doing and that the district is a partner but they also can't do it all. They need our youth to be at the table creating the way forward. A lot of the children are telling us they want to be healed from the trauma. We have a generation of young people who have not only faced gun violence but (the) pandemic (and) the threat of violence in their own schools
