Honestly, they take care of us, like we're their children, and yeah, that's what I like about it.

Deyvion O’Neal, 15

This program is really fun to be a part of a community where everyone is familiar. When you walk in, everyone knows you!

MaKenzie Poston, 13

I like coming to the after-school program because it gives me more time and gives me stuff to do because if I was at home I wouldn't really do nothing but sleep and watch TV all day.

Senior Program Officer for Education
The Pittsburgh Foundation

Based on the out-migration of poverty, higher housing prices in the city and folks moving to places like Penn Hills where social service infrastructure is not there specifically for the children, having this out-of-school-time program in the entire building is so important to me.

Andre Samuel

President and Founder
The Citizen Science Lab

Today marks a historic moment. We are deeply committed to introducing our youth to the world of science and the myriad opportunities it presents. Expanding our programming in collaboration with a longstanding partner and establishing a more permanent presence in their facility aligns perfectly with our initial vision.

Jessica Brooks-Woods

Former YBMKQ Board President
CEO of the NABIP

We wanted to highlight what the school district is doing and that the district is a partner but they also can't do it all. They need our youth to be at the table creating the way forward. A lot of the children are telling us they want to be healed from the trauma. We have a generation of young people who have not only faced gun violence but (the) pandemic (and) the threat of violence in their own schools
